Conditions for Membership

You do not have to be gay or lesbian to join Country Network, neither do you have to be publicly "out" You must be 18 years of age or older - this is because 18 is the age of consent for male homosexual acts in New South Wales (the state in which CN is incorporated) You must normally be a resident of Australia. You must also agree to abide by the rules and subscribe to the official Aims of the club.

Confidentiality

The confidentiality of the membership list has been a prime concern to Country Network throughout its long history. So important was the security of members' identities that special provisions were written into the Constitution - Rule 7(iv)- and adopted at the time of our incorporation. This provides that members must keep confidential at all times the contents of the Membership List and the Register of Members. This Register is one we are required to keep by the Associations Incorporations Act and contains the full legal name, address, date of joining and, eventually, the date of leaving the club for all members.

Hospitality

Although members are not obliged to do so, one of the strongest traditions of Country Network to offer hospitality to other members. Indeed, welcoming others into our homes and helping visitors to our region enjoy their visit is perhaps the most important thing we can do to further the principle aims of the club. To facilitate such hospitality, you are asked on the membership application form for details such as your age and main hobbies and interests. You are also asked to say whether you can "host" (that is, offer a couple of days' accommodation) or "guide" (that is, help show visitor around the region). In fact, you are asked whether you can offer a double bed, a single bed or even a share of your own bed - some people like togetherness!
